Joseph Ellicott and the Holland Land Company are names that are interwoven in local history and found in all of the corners of WNY. However, very few people today know much about the man who surveyed and organized this part of NY when it was a wilderness at the beginning of the 18th century. Dennis Upton will take you back to 1824 as he brings Joseph Ellicott to life in this living portrayal.

OHS's second program of 2025 is all about Historical Crime and Punishment in Genesee County, NY. There were seven hangings in the history of Genesee County, NY from 1807 to 1881. They were all conducted on the county gibbet. The lives and deaths of these murderers are much deeper than they appear.
